EU Removes Duty-Free Threshold for B2C Shipments

EU Removes Duty-Free Threshold for B2C Shipments Under €150: €3 Flat Customs Duty Effective July 1, 2026  Effective July 1, 2026, the European Union has introduced new customs rules for goods purchased through online stores and imported from outside the EU.  The previous duty-free threshold for B2C shipments valued at up to €150 has been abolished. As a result, all B2C e-commerce shipments with a value below €150 are now subject to a flat customs duty of €3 per item.  A B2C shipment refers to any shipment in which the sender is the seller, regardless of whether the seller is an individual or a business.  How the Duty Is Calculated  The €3 customs duty is charged for each individual item in the shipment, rather than for the shipment as a whole or per HS code.  For example, if a parcel contains a book, a T-shirt, and an accessory, the total customs duty will be €9 (€3 per item).  Where the New Rules Apply  The new customs rules apply to all European Union member states, as well as certain territories that are part of the EU customs area.
